Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou Manga

Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou from Ashinano Hitoshi once ruan in the Kodonasha Afternoon manga magazine.  As of right now there are currently thirteen collected volumes of the manga with a fourteenth volume currently being compiled. There is also oone art book, a set of postcards, and two calendars available.  YKK began running in 1994 and ended at chapter 140 in the April 2006 issue of Kodonasha Afternoon.  As of right now there have been no plans made to bring YKK over to America on a wide scale basis.

Where can youget a hold of copies of the manga?  Right now there are two very effective methods of getting the manga, through scanlations and a shop that imports the mangas directly from Japan.

Manga Imports

One of the best ways to get copies of the original tankubons of YKK is through a bookstore that sells imports of the manga online.  One of the best places to get YKK mangas is through Sasuga Japanese Bookstore.  They have been cited as one of the best sources for getting raw copies of the collected manga volumes.

Manga Scanlations

If you own copies of Kodonasha or you imported the mangas and really want to know what everyone's saying then translations of the manga are in order.  Maybe you just don't know if YKK is right for you.  Where's the best place to go to find the most up to date transations?  The Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou Translation site was the first site to offer online scanlations of the manga.. However, since the original translator of the manga has stopped doing translations a group of dedicated fans have picked up where he left off forming Cafe Alpha giving us complete series translations between the two sites. The two sites between them also offer translations for Ashinano's other work PositioN. Cafe Alpha will carry the translations for Ashinano's new work as it becomes available.
